We are officially in production for the film, Last Man Standing; United States v. Dr. Atif Malik, and are starting to produce and post promos for the film! In the first one we try to capture what Dr. Malik’s wife, Megan is going through as she continues to hold her family together while trying to find ways to deliver justice in her husband’s case.
In Episode 4 of Last Man Standing the production team receives the trial transcripts and some attorney’s notes from Dr. Atif Malik’s case. They travel to Maryland for a fact-to-face meeting with Megan and Bennett. As the meeting unfolds, it becomes apparent who really was behind the embezzlement of Dr. Malik’s medical practice. As the team learns more about the individuals who committed the fraud, they see how easily physicians can become targets of insider theft – and eventually end up in prison for crimes they didn’t commit.

In Episode 3 of the Last Man Standing podcast Joe and Sam discuss the case over breakfast and then arrange a call with Bennett McPhatter. McPhatter, a long-time friend of Dr. Malik’s, takes us through the events of the case as he lived them – including the role a tarnished FBI agent played in constructing the government’s case, and witnessing the suicide of Dr. Malik’s business partner.

In our effort to allow you to journey with us as we create the three-part film series on Dr. Atif Malik's case, we have recently launched the Last Man Standing Podcast. The podcast has just been picked up by Apple and is currently available on iTunes and Stitcher.
Episode 1 is a general introduction to one of the key characters we are recruiting to help us with this case – attorney Sam Weiner.
Sam is a recently retired criminal defense attorney who we convinced to come out of retirement to help us with this project. Sam has more than 45 years of experience in criminal defense. Since he began helping we have learned a lot about how federal prosecutions are handled… we have been surprised, shocked and even angered as we have learned how the system really works – especially in Baltimore.
In Episode 2 we begin to establish the background of the case. In addition, we begin to look for answers to some very basic questions. For example, how did a humanitarian and successful physician like Dr. Malik, who was victimized by a crime he reported himself, end up in Federal Prison?
Frankly, there are a number of charges the prosecution filed against Dr. Malik that make no sense on their face. In addition, there were at least four key facts the defense was not allowed to enter into evidence during the trial – things the jury never knew.
After hearing this information, we want you to ask yourself: If the jury would have heard all of the evidence would Dr. Malik have seen even a day in prison?
The more we dig into Dr. Malik’s case the more we feel driven to help correct the record. We hope you will follow the production of the documentary series in the podcast and then watch Last Man Standing when filming is complete.
In the fall of 2018, the Full Story Foundation was proud to release the film Not in Vein with our friend, Sara Carter and Dark Wire Foundation. At the end of film, individuals from law enforcement and the intelligence community call for the Mexican drug cartels to be officially designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs).
We learned today that the 133rd General Assembly in the State of Ohio has presented House Concurrent Resolution 10: To urge the federal government to designate certain drug cartels operating from Mexico as foreign terrorist organizations.
Ohio has been ground zero in the heroin/opioid epidemic and this measure is a great first milestone in attacking this national crisis.
First, we offer our sincere thanks to all of you who have answered the call and donated to this project. Our objective is simple: we must get the truth about Dr. Malik’s case before the public.
Full Story is entering the final stages of pre-production, the point in the process where we begin designing the film series and assembling a list of people we will ask to appear in the film.
The first steps in this production will be a little complex because of the nature of the content. We are focusing on showing how large amounts of cash were redirected and stolen from Dr. Malik’s businesses. In addition, we are laying out the process to best show and explain the complex and extensive network of shell companies that were established to conceal embezzled funds from Dr. Malik.
To that point, the Full Story Foundation believes Dr. Malik was the victim of an embezzlement scheme resulting in personal and corporate losses in the millions of dollars. The extensive forensic accounting that was performed in this case fully supports this fact – however, the very nature of complex embezzlement schemes makes following the flow of funds incredibly difficult. Based on the trial transcripts, we feel it would have been nearly impossible for the jury to fully grasp this critical aspect of the case.
Once this first part of the story is fully explained, it will be difficult for any intellectually honest individual to believe Dr. Malik was the master-mind of anything criminal. We maintain that Dr. Malik was the target of a major theft within his organization, perpetrated by the very ones he trusted.
Full Story Foundation and Films has launched production on a new three-part documentary series called, "Last Man Standing." The project focuses on the legal trials of Dr. Atif Malik. Part I is scheduled to be released in June 2019.
Dr. Malik’s family and friends have been working tirelessly to secure his freedom and correct the public record. Now, Full Story Foundation is honored to join them in this important mission.
When a Harvard-educated doctor and decorated humanitarian reports wrongdoing to federal law enforcement officials and prosecutors, he should be honored and thanked. However, this was not the case for Dr. Atif Malik – a whistleblower who now sits in federal prison serving for the crimes of those he reported.
In the 1970s when Atif Malik was still a young child, he emigrated with his family from Pakistan to the United States, settling in Texas. At the age of 18 he achieved one of his major goals in life -- he became an American citizen. His life’s story is one nearly every American can embrace – as a youth he was harassed and bullied because he was different from other kids. But rather than hold on to resentment, this Harvard-trained caregiver emerged as a public servant, global humanitarian, and a man of deep faith. Dr. Malik dedicated himself to his profession and his patients. Even the President of the United States acknowledged that he was using his gifts to help others and make the world a better place.
Then, suddenly this highly-decorated physician’s American dream turned into a tragic nightmare.
It is important to understand that federal officials didn’t find wrongdoing in Dr. Malik’s medical practice – Dr. Malik self-reported potential violations the moment he discovered the people he trusted to oversee his business finances may have committed a crime. As the process unfolded, the American justice system didn’t just fail Dr. Malik – it was used as a weapon to manipulate and wrongfully attack him and his family.
The Full Story Foundation believes what happened to this honorable man should be cause for concern for every law-abiding citizen of the United States.
